R2 standard nabs accreditationBy Editorial Staff, E-Scrap News September 11, 2015 SERI, the group behind the R2 e-scrap environmental standard, announced the R2 certification process is now accredited by the American National Standards Institute. The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) is a national nonprofit group based in Washington, D.C. that works with voluntary standards groups to meet requirements in regards to openness, balance, consensus and due process, according to the ANSI website. It has roughly 1,000 members in the corporate, nonprofit, institutional and governmental realms. According to a press release from SERI (Sustainable Electronics Recycling International), "the accreditation is an affirmation that SERI's process is consistent with ANSI's Essential Requirements for Due Process, which constitutes the recognized benchmark for voluntary consensus standards bodies." |
