Grade A PET scrap bales in California were done this week at 13.2 cpp FOB Long Beach, down 0.1 cpp from a week ago, and 13.01 cpp FOB Oakland, up 0.6 cpp. It was unclear why Oakland business carried a slight discount to Long Beach.

Grade B bales were done at 9.91 cpp FOB Long Beach, up 0.75 cpp, and 9.76 cpp FOB Oakland, up 0.65 cpp. Grade B bales typically carry a PET yield of less-than 94% and are often exported from the US West Coast to Southeast Asia. Demand for PET bales from China has reportedly risen as the New Year celebrations ended and recycling plants resumed operations. China remains the major destination of US plastic scrap, including PET scrap.
