Arizona-based Republic Services Inc. will reportedly open a customer service center in Fishers, Indiana, that could employ more than 450 people.
According to an online article by the Indianapolis Business Journal, Republic Services will invest $13.6 million on what it is calling a “customer resource center” in the Indianapolis suburb of Fishers.
The targeted employment figure of “as many as 469 workers” has a timeline of up to 2025 to reach that number, but the office is expected to open with fewer staff in place by Sept. 1, 2016.
The facility is “one of three customer resource centers, or CRCs, that Republic plans to open over the next two years,” according to the Business Journal report, with the other two being located near Phoenix and Charlotte, North Carolina. The three CRCs would serve to consolidate some 100 existing customer service centers operate by the waste management firm.
“The new state-of-the-art facilities and the technology deployed will provide [our] customer service employees with the tools and capabilities they need to provide better service to customers across a myriad of touch points, including voice, email, text, social channels, and live chat,” Republic stated in a mid-January 2016 news release.
Says Republic President and CEO Donald W. Slager, “The approach we are taking to execute our company strategy of profitable growth through differentiation centers around consistently delivering the highest level of customer service – one that offers a differentiated experience of easy solutions, reliability and environmental responsibility while successfully balancing our commitment to creating long-term shareholder value.
The Indiana Economic Development Corp. reportedly offered Republic Services as much as $4.5 million in job creation tax credits to locate the center within the Hoosier State, according to the Business Journal.
