The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has awarded funding for two projects to assist companies in developing markets for scrap tires.
• Ohio EPA is awarding $350,000 to purchase scrap tire processing equipment that it says will help Jackson Township support Liberty Tire Services of Ohio LLC http://www.libertytire.com/Home.aspx in the processing of scrap tires.
• Ohio EPA is awarding $50,000 to help the Cuyahoga County Soil and Water Conservation District and the St. Clair Superior Development Corporation in Cleveland to purchase processing equipment to create geo cells made of scrap tire material.
The first grant will allow the applicant to convert scrap tires into a finished product that can be sold to the tire-derived fuel (TDF) market, says the EPA. The second project allows the applicant to demonstrate an effective use of scrap tire material in the construction of geo cells for soil stabilization engineering designs.
