According to an article in the (Madison) Wisconsin State Journal, a local author has written a book to honor the efforts of an early recycler. 

“What Milly Did: The Remarkable Pioneer of Plastics Recycling” tells the story of Milly Zantow, who founded a recycling center in 1979. She died in 2014 at age 91. Zantow was one of the first people in America to sort consumer plastics. 

The author, Elise Moser, held a book discussion at the Mystery to Me bookstore Sunday, Aug. 14, 2016. The purpose of the book is to educate people, especially children, about Zantow’s story, the article says.

“Especially that a woman did that,” Moser told the Journal. “Not only have women been systematically excluded from science and technology pursuits, but women’s achievements in those areas are often invisible.”
