The Swiss conference organiser ICM AG has issued a call for papers for its 17th International Automobile Recycling Congress IARC 2017, scheduled for 22-24 March 2017 in Berlin. The deadline for submissions is 30 September 2016.

More than 250 delegates from industry, authorities and academia will discuss and present news and challenges of the manufacturing and end-of-life vehicle (ELV) business, ICM says. The congress will bring together the various links in the ELV recycling chain, including car manufacturers, metal and plastic scrap traders, recyclers, shredder operators and policymakers from around the world.

Topics to be covered include:

  • the circular economy and resource efficiency;
  • innovation in the recycling sector;
  • how car manufacturers and the dismantling industry can close the recycling loop;
  • how to recycle electronics and destroy data in cars;
  • new materials in cars, e.g., carbon fiber, rare earth elements, etc., and how to recycle them;
  • next-generation recycling processes and equipment;
  • country reports;
  • recycling aspects in vehicle design; and
  • an update on new laws and regulations.

The congress program also features company spotlights and tech talks.

A large exhibition area is integrated into the conference facilities, where vendors are able to network with their clients, organisers say. Cocktail receptions and a networking dinner create an atmosphere to get in touch with business partners, colleagues and competitors. The conference also is organising plant tours to leading recycling companies in the vicinity of Berlin.

Potential presenters can submit their papers here.
