The Mount Airy (North Carolina) News reports operations continue at New River Tire Recycling of Pilot Mountain, after recovering from a Jan. 12, 2016, fire.

Ben Bryant opened the Pilot Mountain facility in January 2014 by. He told the newspaper the business experienced opposition from citizens and officials, including an ordinance that prohibited the operation of similar facilities in town, the article says.

“The town has actively tried to regulate us through ordinances,” Bryant says in the article. “People need to look at who they’re electing, because they’re really hindering job growth.”

An investigation confirmed arson as the source of the fire, which began in several piles of finished product awaiting shipment.

Bryant said he has no plans to move the facility.

“We’ve got plenty of room to grow here,” he told the newspaper. “I feel like it’s going to be plenty for what we want to do with our top-end goals.”
