Hagerstown, Indiana-based Autocar Trucks says it has been awarded a contract by the National Joint Powers Alliance (NJPA) to offer Class 7 and 8 chassis to the more than 50,000 NJPA members. Under the contract, NJPA member agencies now have access to purchase Autocar refuse trucks, street sweepers, asphalt trucks, hoists, grapples, salt spreaders, plows and other utility and maintenance used in the public works sector.

NJPA contracts are solicited across North America and are competitively awarded on behalf of NJPA current and potential government and education member agencies, says Autocar. NJPA is a public agency that creates national cooperative contract purchasing plans on behalf of its member entities in the United States and Canada. The contracts are designed to offer both time and money savings for their users by consolidating the efforts of numerous individually prepared solicitations into one national, cooperatively shared process.

“Now even more municipalities can choose the best truck for their needs by leveraging the NJPA chassis contract,” says Dan Vermeer, Autocar’s vice president of sales and market development.

Adds Vermeer, “The NJPA contract gives fleet managers a trusted option validated by their sister cities, with the full opportunity to specify a custom-engineered chassis and select their preferred body to fit their unique application and operations.”

NJPA members also retain “the full, unlimited use of the Autocar Solutions service command center for technical support, 24/7,” says the company.

The new Autocar Trucks contract (081716-ACT) is effective as of mid-December 2016. More information on Autocar trucks available under the NJPA contract can be found here.

Autocar describes itself as the oldest motor vehicle make in the United States and as having built America’s first truck in 1899. The company now manufactures severe-duty cab-over trucks, including Class 8 refuse and recycling trucks. Autocar is part of the Highland, Illinois-based GVW Group.
