The Donald J. Trump Administration, its potential effects on international trade and the world’s reaction to the new president will be topics on the agenda at the Paper Summit Spectacular luncheon and opening session on Thursday, April 27, 2017.

The session, hosted by the Paper Stock Industries (PSI) Chapter of the Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries (ISRI), takes place on the final day of the 2017 ISRI Annual Convention at the Ernest J. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans.

PSI describes the session on its website by commenting that “the Trump Administration has been a whirlwind of activity since Inauguration Day, signing executive orders and making pronouncements on a host of issues [affecting] the future of U.S. trade agreements such as the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) and NAFTA  [as well as hinting at] talks with individual countries for the development of bilateral agreements [and discussions of] imposing tariffs, taxes and other fees.”

Speaking at the session are Adina Renee Adler of ISRI and Brian Taylor of the Recycling Today Media Group.

Adler, who is senior director for international relations at ISRI, will provide insight into how ISRI’s Governmental Relations staff is tracking President Trump’s policies and engaging with government officials on behalf of ISRI members.

Taylor, who is based in Hong Kong, will offer information on what the Trump Administration has focused on regarding trade in its first 90 days in office and how the rest of the world is reacting to the new policy initiatives being put in place or proposed.

Four subsequent PSI Paper Summit Spectacular sessions on Thursday afternoon will focus on proposed changes to the PSI’s scrap paper moisture level policy, including aspects prompting downgrades and deductions.
