US Shredder to unveil new shredder model at ISRI Convention

The Miramar Beach, Florida-based US Shredder and Castings Group has announced it will introduce its new Heavy Duty 6060 Ferrous/Nonferrous Shredder at the 2017 Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries (ISRI) 2017 Annual Convention in New Orleans.

The company says the shredder is being offered with either a spider or a disc rotor. The difference in the new 6060 model and others on the market, according to the company, is “the integrity of the rotor,” which US Shredder says is “built the same as larger models—discs are keyed and heat shrunk to the shaft.”

The company also says the rotor is 32 percent heavier “than most of the smaller portable models on the market.” The heavier rotor has been designed to allow customers to shred engine blocks, lower density bales and other materials. US Shredder also says the 6060 model includes a steel base that requires less foundation work than many other stationary models.

“The key to the success and longevity of any shredder comes back to the rotor,” says company president Bill Tigner. “Over the last several years, we’ve seen the smaller and portable type shredders fail again and again. Customers who wanted to shred heavier scrap but didn’t have the need [to shred] whole cars asked us to provide a heavy-duty rotor. This new shredder meets that need.”

The new US Shredder 6060 model shredder can be fed with either an infeed conveyor or by

grapple. Custom downstream systems are available from US Shredder to perform ferrous and nonferrous recovery, says Tigner.
