Inka Guixà was appointed the new managing director of La Farga 24 March 2017. Spain-based La Farga is a family-structured metallurgical company that manufactures roughly 192,000 tonnes of copper products per year and has become a world leader in copper recycling technology.

While Inka Guixà has become the company’s top executive, Oriol Guixà continues as chairman and chief executive officer of the company.

She began her professional career in the Damm Group and also has worked for Antares Consulting and Novartis Pharmaceuticals SA. In 2009 she joined the La Farga team as expansion director of the metallurgical holding company. In this role, Inka Guixà managed the research and analysis of business, market and product opportunities, the sale of technology for the recycling process and controlled and monitored foreign investments. In January 2012 she was appointed managing director of La Farga Intec, and in 2013 she became managing director of strategic planning and management of the metallurgical holding company.

Inka Guixà has a bachelor’s degree in business administration and management from ESADE and a master’s degree in business administration.

Oriol Guixà says, “With the appointment of this new position, the company is consolidating a dual leadership, thereby strengthening one of its mainstays as a family business. As the family protocol dictates, we are diversifying the leadership of the company in the full conviction that we are strengthening La Farga’s managerial base, executive capacity and business efficiency, as well as preserving the company-family binomial in order to make it sustainable in the long term.”

Inka Guixà has assumed responsibility for La Farga’s profitability at a consolidated level and for all the industrial companies that make up the metallurgical holding company.

“We at La Farga are committed to creating value, and we believe in innovation as a means of generating new solutions,” Inka Guixà says. “We strive to meet the expectations of our clients and of society, all by means of a business model that is responsible, sustainable and committed to people. We are a company with clear values that define us: innovation, enthusiasm, being ethically responsible and having a global mindset.”

La Farga’s current workforce numbers 347 people, and its annual turnover exceeds €887 million. Its main production centre is in Les Masies de Voltregà (Osona), Spain, but it also has distribution companies in France and the United Kingdom. The company says it exports 46% of its production.

The company’s La Farga Foundation manages the Copper Museum and works to benefit the Les Masies de Voltregà communities socially and economically.

Since 1984 La Farga has been run by one of the majority partners, Oriol Guixà.
