MassDEP announces deadline for Recycling Business Development Grant
<![CDATA[The Brattleboro, Vermont-based Northeast Recycling Council (NERC) has announced the deadline for Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection’s (MassDEP’s) Recycling Business Development Grants (RBDG) is June 30, 2017.

The goal of the RBDG program is to help Massachusetts recycling processors and manufacturers create sustainable markets for eligible materials and to add value to municipal and business recycling efforts. Selected applicants will receive grant awards of between $50,000 and $400,000. (To read more about the seven companies selected in 2016, click here.)

MassDEP says it will evaluate each applicant’s capabilities and experience; the extent to which the proposed project fosters stronger local recycling markets; the technical feasibility of the investment; the applicant’s financial match; and the likelihood of success and continued sustainability of the investment after the grant. MassDEP says a site visit and/or interview with the top ranked applicants could be required as part of the evaluation.

Visit the MassDEP RBDG website for more information about eligibility and material requirements and a link to the application at www.mass.gov/eea/agencies/massdep/recycle/grants/rbdg.html

To qualify for the grant money, companies must have a properly licensed location in the commonweath where the proposed recycling or recycling-related activity will take place. The applicant also must have been in substantial compliance with federal and state environmental laws for the past three years. Grant recipients need to provide a minimum financial match of 25 percent on the project. The deadline for applications is 5 p.m. EST June 30.
