United States-based RISI has announced that Chengdu, China, will serve as the host city for its 6th China International Recycled Fiber Conference, which will be co-located with its 1st International Containerboard Conference. Both RISI events will be held at the JW Marriott Hotel in Chengdu Dec. 6-8, 2017.

The conference, which is organized by RISI and supported by the China Resources Recycling Association (CRRA) and Atlanta-based Moore & Associates, will be focused on “interpreting recovered paper market trends (quality and quantity) from the perspective of industry policy and supply and demand market changes,” says RISI.

RISI’s publicity for the events say the recovered fiber and containerboard events are being linked “to conduct a more accurate and scientific interpretation on recovered paper industry development trends, and consolidate the resource advantages from upstream to downstream.”

The groups says topics to be addressed include “key factors such as macroeconomic trends, holistic pulp and paper industry developments, governmental environment protection policy, and market supply and demand trends [that] are closely connected and affected by each other.”

RISI says prospective attendees include “traders from home and abroad, inspection authorities, recovered paper collectors, paper mills, industrial associations and equipment and chemical suppliers.”

Specific topics likely to be addressed in Chengdu, according to RISI, include:

  • global recovered paper trading trends and outlook;
  • regional outlooks for North America, Europe and Southeast Asia;
  • China’s macroeconomic trends and a paper industry overview for that nation;
  • China’s internal recovered paper collection system;
  • recovered paper pricing fluctuation;
  • an Asian containerboard market outlook; and
  • cost benchmarking in the containerboard market.

Additional details on the December 2017 conference can be found on this web page.
