Review
of Goals and Objectives
Budget seems to be in line with
other councils of CRA per Debbie
(If you would like an e-copy of
Budget/Goals, contact Eileen, Derrick or Debbie)
Every attempt should be made for
each council to be self-sufficient and the HHW council has our budget set to
make that possible.
Technical
Guide Review Committee
-Contact Debbie or Michele for e-copy of
committee’s handout.
-Lots of work still to be done,
but we are off and running!
-Each section needs a summary
paragraph(s) introducing the section in the Guide
-Items such as the white goods
memo to be added as an update.
-Need to revisit the resource
list and possibly include a vendor list in addition to the contractor list,
etc.
-COPYRIGHT the publication
discussed.
-Glue-binding system available
per generous donation from Keith at Safety-Kleen
(SEE THIS SYSTEM AT OUR NEXT MEETING SCHEDULED FOR WED 7-11-01 @ THE
SAFETY-KLEEN FACILITY IN REIDSVILLE)
-To advertise on binder or not
advertise or binder?
-Keith will also make his ppt
presentation available to the website
-Example RFPs still needed
(Cumberland and Wake coming, but still need others)
-Discussion on brochures on
website – maybe shrink and have brochure cover shown on website with link to
ordering info
-Debbie/Michele will send out an
email to your group about the summary letter for the section your group worked
on
Advertising and Outreach
-Website advertising annually.
TechGuide advertising updated every 3 yrs when Guide is revised and
reprinted
-Eileen brought in used oil
recycling bucket with advertising capabilities on the item (each kit is
approx $20.00 retail) Maybe used for prizes, raffle, give-aways, etc.
Maybe get grant $ for buying these? Storm water monies? DPPEA grant?
Debbie’s
CRA update
-Kim Henley has resigned
-CRA rent on office space too
high ($2K/ mo), currently looking for new office space
-CRA Conference attendance was
down (thought is due to state/co/city budget crunches partial reason)
-Everyone needs to keep their
eyes and ears open to solicit exhibitors to next Conference in Asheville
-Continue to solicit membership
in the CRA
-Still searching for Webmaster
assistance with CRA
-Discussion held pertaining to
council members profiting financially from information the council would
otherwise provide free-of-charge. (Stems
from situation with a council member requesting copies of old RFPs from HHW
council for the purpose of profiting personally – See Debbie for further
info)
TechGuide
Open Discussion
-Debbie stated that the
copyright issue for the TechGuide has been discussed with Dick Sloan of CRA
and further discussion with a lawyer to be held prior to publication
-Question of CD version to be
made available or website download after $ and registration
-Suggestion by Debbie to release
the TechGuide at the CRA Conference! This
would reduce the cost to our council in providing a workshop about the guide
in addition to giving it a well-rounded kick-off.
-Thought was still that the
general public (if they did not buy/participate in workshop at the conference
in March) could only purchase the Guide 3 months after the conference
(coincides with new fiscal year in July)
-Suggestion to put order sheet
in manual for multiple copies and/ or mailing list for addendums
-Dick Sloan is first contact for
publishing the document
-Keith Anderson @ Safety-Kleen
is first contact if it is decided to glue-bind
Speakers/Officials
for future meetings
-RBRC Representative from
Conference or anyone affiliated with their organization
-Forsyth Co Air Quality info
-Electronics recycling (problem
with NJ prison option so alternative would be good)
Steve
Swaim – 8-10 gaylords/mo electronics
Lori
Swaim difficulty with NJ receiving collected electronics
(contact Steve or Lori)
Eileen
Benson had successful collection working with company in Charlotte, Computel.
Davidson County, Rowan County, Mecklenburg County and many other now working
with this company.
-Wood waste from Florida
(contact Ivan)
Suggestions always welcome and
appreciated – the conference isn’t that
far off!
