Conserving resources by advancing waste reduction and recycling throughout the Carolinas since 1989.

NC LEGISLATION 2007 - 2008

******************************************************************************

  • This year is a very active and exciting one for recycling and solid waste bills in the NC General Assembly!  Some newly introduced bills may represent significant opportunities for positive political action by our organization (see NC Bills).

  • The CRA Policy Committee is very busy analyzing these bills with regard to their potential to impact recycling in North Carolina.  In order to make informed policy recommendations to the CRA Board of Directors which reflect the best interests of our membership, the committee would like to receive feedback from our members.

  • Note that S1553 (electronics) has now been rolled into S1492, an omnibus bill largely focused on landfills—this controversial bill is of particular interest to stakeholders. (S1492 is currently being debated in stakeholders meetings in the form of a proposed committee substitute.)

******************************************************************************

We hope you will find the time to become active in voicing your opinions during this legislative session.

Additional information on all Bills can be found on the NC General Assembly web site.
