A
Qualified
Recycling
Professional
of
the
Carolina
Recycling
Association
(CRA)
is
person
recognized
by
the
Association
as
having
been
trained
in
the
skills
needed
to
understand
and
perform
in
the
waste
reduction
and
recycling
industry
in
general.
A
Qualified
Recycling
Professional
will
have
a
solid
foundation
and
broad
understanding
of
all
the
recycling
and
waste
reduction
industry’s
principal
areas
and
components.
Recognition
is
obtained
through
the
Carolina
Recycling
University
(CRU)
of
the
Carolina
Recycling
Association.
Recognition
of
individuals
is
demonstrated
and
verifiable
through
a
signed
Qualification
Degree
by
the
CRA
President
and
Executive
Director
and
through
good
standing
in
the
CRU
system.
WHAT
IS
THE
PROFESSIONAL

QUALIFICATION
TRAINING
(PRQT)?
The
Professional
Recyclers
Qualification
is
the 3
day
course
in
the
Carolina
Recycling
University
that
earns
you
the
status
of
"Qualified
Recycling
Professional."
WHO
SHOULD
ATTEND?
Solid
Waste
and
Recycling
Officials
in
the
public
sector
(State
Regulators,
Public
Works
Managers,
County/City
Managers,
Solid
Waste
Directors,
Recycling
Coordinators),
recycling
professionals
in
the
private
sector
(businesses
owners,
industry
specialists),
teachers,
and
the
general
public.

the

educational

As
a
registered
course
attendee
you
will
receive
a
copy
of
the
training
manual
that
is
yours
to
keep.
Upon
successful
completion
of
the
course
you
will
receive
a
certificate
and
recognition
as
a
Qualified
Recycling
Professional.
The
CRU
will
provide
numerous
opportunities
for
attendees
to
obtain
CEUs
and
the
CRU
will
recognize
CEUs
from
other
organizations.
Become

Qualified
Recycling
Professional
QUALIFICATION
REQUIREMENTS
To
earn
recognition
as
a
CRA
Qualified
Recycling
Professional,
an
individual
must
successfully
complete
the
Professional
Recyclers
Qualification
Training
(PRQT)
Test
based
on
the
PRQT
Course
offered
by
the
CRU.
Successful
completion
of
the
test
requires
earning
a
test
score
of
80%
or
better.
Upon
successful
completion
of
the
PRQT
Test,
the
participant
will
have
a
Qualification
Degree
on
record
with
the
CRU
and
receive
a
signed
Qualification
Degree
as
a
Qualified
Recycling
Professional
of
the
CRA.
The
Qualification
Degree
will
initially
be
on
record
with
the
CRU
for
a
period
of
five
(5)
years
while
the
Continuing
Education
Requirement
is
fulfilled
(see
Continuing
Education
Requirement
below).
After
completion
of
the
Continuing
Education
Requirement,
the
Qualification
Degree
recognizing
the
Qualified
Recycling
Professional
will
be
permanent.
TEST
REQUIREMENTS
To
qualify
to
take
the
Professional
Recyclers
Qualification
Training
Test
a
person
must
meet
one
of
the
following
criteria:
1)
Fully
attend
a
PRQT
Course
offered
by
the
CRU.
The
test
will
be
offered
at
the
end
of
the
Course.
2)
Demonstrate
5
or
more
years
of
project,
career
or
management
related
experience
in
the
recycling,
waste
reduction
and/or
solid
waste
industry.
Individuals
will
be
required
to
document
this
experience
to
the
CRU
in
advance
of
taking
the
test.
CONTINUING
EDUCATION
REQUIREMENTS
To
maintain
a
Qualification
Degree
as
a
CRA
Qualified
Recycling
Professional
in
perpetuity
with
the
Carolina
Recycling
University
a
person
must
successfully
complete
50
hours
of
CRA
recognized
Continued
Education
Units
(CEUs)
within
five
(5)
years
of
satisfactory
completing
the
PRQT
Test.
One
CEU
is
awarded
for
every
contact
hour.
CEUs
are
awarded
on
a
1:1
ratio
for
approved
CRA
events
and
a
1:2
ratio
for
pre-approved
non-CRA
events.
Individuals registered
for the
full
2006
Annual
Conference were
eligible
to
receive
a maximum
of 10
CEUs
to
be
applied to
continuing
education
requirements needed
to
maintain
the
QRP,
or
pro-actively toward obtaining
future
recognition
at
the
QRP
level
if
the
PRQT
is
taken
and
completed
within
the
same
calendar
year. The
10
CEU's
require
the
signature
of
at
least
six
conference speakers/session
hosts,
tour
leaders,
or
workshop
instructors. A
copy
of
your
signed CEU
form
must
be
returned
to
the
registration
desk
on
the
final
day
of
conference
or
faxed
to
CRA's
office
within
ten
days
of
the
last
day
of
conference.
If
you
attended
the
entire
conference
and
have
not
yet
turned
in
your
CEU
form
please
send
a
completed
form
to
the
CRA
and
we
will
allocate
your
CEUs
appropriately.
