NC DENR, Division of Pollution Prevention and Environmental Assistance (DPPEA) and the Carolina Compost Council (CCC) have developed a  Food Diversion Task Force (FDTF). The purpose of this task force is to outline the current state of food waste in North Carolina and to identify opportunities to expand food waste diversion by implementing and encouraging food waste diversion practices.

The FDTF is comprised of solid waste managers, recycling coordinators, facility managers, waste haulers, commercial and municipal composters, local and state government officials, and food waste generators. If you are interested in joining the task force or receiving updates on the status of food diversion efforts in the Carolinas please contact Brian Rosa or a staff member of the CRA.

Survey

In an effort to gain perspective on the Carolinas level of and interest in food diversion the DPPEA and CCC have developed a survey that  will help us understand what procedures are currently in place and identify what measures need to be taken to divert more food waste (residuals).  You may send completed surveys to the CRA.
