What is the The Carolina Recycling University (CRU) and the Professional Recyclers Qualification Training (PRQT)?  -  Mission and Goals, Requirements and Qualifications, CEUs - view a chart listing recycling related events the CRU will recognize by offering CEUs for attendance, Specialty Degrees, Student Body and much more.

The NC DPPEA And SC DHEC in collaboration with the CRA  were able to host the 2007 Rural Edition Professional Recyclers Qualification Trainings throughout North and South Carolina this fall. With the support from the USDA most of the training attendees received scholarships which covered their registration fee and a portion of their accommodation charges.

Upon registration each attendee received a FREE copy, of the never seen before, 2007 Rural Recycling Training Manual. Over the course of the training prominent industry professionals discussed a broad range of topics focusing on each of the fifteen Chapters in the Rural PRQT Manual.

All attendees who successfully completed the entire training and passed the PRQT exam will receive a Certificate of Completion highlighting their achievement and will be recognized as a Qualified Recycling Professional.

The CRA will be posting a list of or Carolina Recycling University (CRU) Alumni and 2007 Rural PRQT evaluation summaries shortly.

If you or someone you know is interested in learning more about the CRU please contact the CRA at 919-545-9050 or cra@cra-recycle.org

The 2007 Rural Edition Professional Recyclers Qualification Training were Supported by the United States Department of Agriculture.

As you great up to take part in the Nationally recognized America Recycles Day (ARD) initiative the CRA and NC DPPEA would like to work with you to ensure that you have the proper tools, marketing materials and event listings to showcase along with your own campaign.

Visit the CRA ARD web site.

"It All Comes to Back to You!" - That's the theme of America Recycles Day. Getting involved with ARD and showing your support is so simple. You can Make The Pledge - A Challenge to Yourself and a Chance to Win. No, you don't have to pledge money or make a purchase to enter. In fact, there's no whatsoever. All we ask is that you make a commitment to yourself to step up your recycling efforts. The ARD will be offering on line pledging abilities and there are pledge cards that you can request to be mailed to you to be sent to the ARD headquarters.

If you would like to receive ARD materials or have an event listing you would like added to the CRA and National ARD web sites

please contact Lisa Velesaris.

Later this year (or early January 2008) we will present a similar program in South Carolina.

The CRC meets 6 times a year, once at the CRA conference and at schools in NC and SC throughout the year. The CRC is updating its look so keep an eye out for a newly designed web site and membership brochure. Read a newsletter from Kathy.
