2019 Annual Meeting & CRA Board Elections

CRA held the annual business meeting and town hall on Wednesday,  March 20 during the 29th Annual Conference and Trade Show at the Charleston Area Convention Center in Charleston, SC.  During the annual meeting we discussed 2019 CRA Board of Directors Elections as well as the State of the CRA.

We are pleased to welcome five newly elected or re-elected members to the CRA Board of Directors:
D. Scott Bost – Landfill Performance Solutions (Castle Hayne, NC)
Tori Carle – City of Greensboro (Greensboro, NC)
Christine Cobb – Coastal Wire Company (Georgetown, SC)
Jessica Driggers – Sierra International Machinery (Greensboro, NC)
Dave VanDeventer – Clemson University (Clemson, SC)

2019 Board Candidates

D. Scott Bost – Solid Waste Consultant, Landfill Performance Solutions (Castle Hayne, NC)

Scott's Statement:
Scott has over twenty years of experience in the solid waste industry! In Greensboro, he managed a large landfill, a compost operation where 35,000 tons was recycled annually, and a 1500 ton per day transfer station. As Onslow County Director, he managed a large landfill and MRF where the recycling rate increased from 800 tons to over 4000 tpm. Scott is a National Teaching Faculty Member and the NC SWANA Director of Training.

Board Skills and CRA Board/Committee Service:
Non-profit Board Service and Executive Position Experience Including Vice President and Secretary, SWANA-certified faculty member, 20+ years Local Government Experience. Interest in serving as CRA Secretary.
Tori Carle – Waste Reduction Supervisor, City of Greensboro (Greensboro, NC)

Tori's Statement:
Tori Carle is the Waste Reduction Supervisor for the City of Greensboro. She's interested in serving on the CRA Board of Directors to improve waste reduction and recycling across the Carolinas with her industry experience, excellent communications skills, and unwavering positive attitude. She may have started in the recycling industry just a few years ago, but she's successfully spearheaded Operation Bedroll, GSO Collects, and Cart Tagging programs.

Non-profit Board Service and Executive Position experience including Board Chair and Secretary; Local Government Sector Experience; Communications and Technology Skills; Current CRA Program Committee Co-Chair, Education & Outreach, Membership, and Conference Committee Member. Interest in serving as CRA Secretary.
Christine Cobb – Senior Regional Sales Manager, Coastal Wire Company (Georgetown, SC)

Christine's Statement:
Christine has been in the Recycling Industry for over 26 years in various sales scenarios. She began as a temp employee in GA and is now the Southeast Senior Regional Sales Manager for Coastal Wire. With all of her experience and customer service over 25 states, She believes she brings a fresh perspective based on this diverse customer experience and an understanding of the operational challenges customers are facing today.

Board Skills and CRA Board/Committee Service:
Private Sector/Business Representation; 25+ years Experience in Sales, Technical Knowledge of Facility Operations, Extensive Customer Service Experience, Involved with CRA for 15+ years as Exhibitor & Sponsor, Desire to use experience to grow CRA’s membership.
Jessica Driggers – Regional Sales Manager, Sierra International Machinery (Greensboro, NC) *

Jessica's Statement:
As a Recycling Industry Professional, Jessica is not only committed to improving the Carolina Recycling Association and supporting our industry, but she is also committed to improving our Carolina communities. She believes her previous experience on the CRA Board coupled with experience working with recyclers and understanding their businesses will enable her to continue to be an asset to the CRA Board and the Association as a whole.

Current CRA Board Member, Record-Breaking Fundraising and Member/Sponsor Recruiting for CRA, Sales Experience and Large Network of Contacts to Support CRA’s Fund Development and Board Development Needs, Prior Non-profit Board Experience; Current CRA Fund Development (past chair), Membership, & Conference Committee Member.
Dave VanDeventer – Solid Waste and Recycling Manager, Clemson University (Clemson, SC)

Dave's Statement:
Dave has been a member of the CRA for 18 years and has served in many capacities. He has gained much experience from serving on other boards and committees. He believes those experiences will add stability and value to the current board. The CRA is near and dear to his heart and it would be an honor and privilege to serve our membership, his peers and the Carolina's.
