Please be aware of common “list scams”
We have received several reports of third-party vendors attempting to sell information they claim to be CRA attendee data. This is fraudulent and a misrepresentation of information they may provide to those who fall victim to this fraud. In their communications, scammers often imply some sort of relationship with CRA and offer to sell attendee lists and other data. List brokers and data marketers attempt to sell fake attendee lists to shows’ exhibitors. This is a common scam that has affected the trade shows industry for many years. CRA DOES NOT sell or rent attendee information or its member data.
Please be aware that these scammers frequently change company names and “From” email addresses. We understand and identify with the frustration and inconvenience that these spammers cause. Please DO NOT respond to these emails or share financial information with any entity that is not included among our authorized vendors. Report them as spam/phishing and delete them.
Please be aware of common “hotel scams”
We have received several reports of third-party “vendors” attempting to solicit your booking for conference hotel rooms. This is fraudulent and CRA does not work with these parties. They’ve created fake hotel booking websites that may appear legitimate. They are attempting to scam you for your information and will not, nor are they authorized, actually book rooms at our conference hotel. These emails typically have typos, grammar errors, multiple email addresses in the email, multiple company names in the email, etc. The only way to secure your hotel room is directly through the booking links and information posted on our conference website and sent in emails directly from CRA. If you email hotels at cra-recycle.org, you may get a response from ConferenceDirect who is our authorized conference management firm.
