PetroChem Wire: Recycled HDPE prices lower

August 5, 2015

Recycled HMW HDPE drum prices for flakes and pellets dropped by 2 cents per pound in the final days of July as demand tapered off.

Business was reported at 53 to 58 cents per pound for pellets and 39 to 41 cents per pound for flakes, FOB U.S. East Coast. HDPE post-consumer frac melt natural (dairy) fell by a penny at the end of the month for the second consecutive week as suppliers looked to trim inventories. Pellets finished the month at 55 to 59 cents per pound and flakes at 46 to 51 cents per pound, both FOB East Coast.

In the U.S. prime domestic resale HDPE market, volumes were lower and prices weaker at the end of July as buyers took to the sidelines. Generic prime HDPE BM ended the last week of July down 3 cents per pound at 64 cents per pound railcar delivered.
