The Association of Postconsumer Plastic Recyclers has launched a program to recognize technology and concepts that are aimed at boosting plastics recovery. And the group is now accepting applications from those who want their ideas considered.

APR's Plastic Recycling Showcase will highlight "recently commercialized innovations" put forth by APR members. According to the group, recipients will be recognized during the APR Technical Forum held in conjunction with Plastics Recycling 2016 on Feb. 1, 2016 in New Orleans.

Showcase innovations will also be highlighted during each APR meeting, at the APR booth during Plastics Recycling 2016 and during other trade shows throughout the year. They will also be covered in APR's online properties.

In a press release, APR noted it's looking for ideas and technology that move the industry forward in a wide range of areas, including processing equipment, bale capability, collection and supply of post-consumer plastics, and products that harness post-consumer plastic material.

Interested parties have until Oct. 31 to submit their nominations to APR. Showcase recipients will be selected by an APR a selection committee made up of APR members representing a variety of stakeholders.

"We recognize that innovation drives the growth of recycling and is essential to the success of the plastics recycling industry," said John Standish, APR’s technical director. "The APR Plastic Recycling Showcase will identify, highlight, and commend the industry's leading innovations."
