The Bureau of International Recycling (BIR) Ferrous Division offers an analysis of current and future market trends at its meeting during the 2016 World Recycling Convention Round-Table Sessions by inviting one of the leading research and consultancy groups specialised in global energy, metals and mining research, Wood Mackenzie.

Curtis Zhu joined Wood Mackenzie’s Steel Market Service team in November 2011. He contributes to the Iron Ore Market Service and the Steel Market Service, with a focus on the Chinese iron and steel industry, as well as global iron ore demand.

Prior to joining Wood Mackenzie, Zhu spent six years with Steel Business Briefing (SBB), starting in Shanghai in 2006, and was sent to London on a secondment beginning 2010. At SBB, Zhu helped establish all the major products and infrastructure in its research and consulting business. This included setting up a China steel industry database, creating SBB’s steel map products and managing global forecasting models covering steel, iron ore and metallurgical coal and coke markets.

The title of Zhu’s presentation is “Chinese Steel Industry: Past, Present and Future.”

A Q&A session give attendees the opportunity for a lively exchange, the BIR says in a news release announcing the session.

The plenary meeting, which is scheduled for Tuesday, 25 October, also will feature an overview of the current and future international steel and ferrous scrap markets presented by a senior board member and an update on global steel recycling statistics by BIR Statistics Advisor Rolf Willeke.
