Rotar joins forces with Lehnhoff

Netherlands-based Rotar, a supplier of attachments for hydraulic excavators and wheel loaders, and Germany-based Lehnhoff, a supplier of earth-moving machines, have joined forces and have been shortlisted for the 2016 World Demolition Awards.

Rotar and Lehnhoff say their collaboration to develop a rotating subhead that integrates the quick-coupler and hydraulic valve block lets both the attachment and quick coupler reach their full potential. “It ensures power, productivity and a more efficient, safe and comfortable work environment for the excavator operator,” Rotar states in a news release announcing the partnership.

According to the companies, the collaboration yields in the following benefits:

  • All hoses and pipes between the attachment and the full hydraulic quick-coupler run inside the subhead and are protected, eliminating hose rupture, oil spills and downtime as a result of the unprotected hoses.
  • A bolt-on adapter with the hydraulic valve block is not necessary, as they are integrated, which leads to total weight reduction and a more beneficial point of gravity of the attachment. This development enables excavators to carry stronger and heavier attachments, resulting in more productivity and project uptime.
  • Rotar and Lehnhoff both focus on an optimal oil flow, especially on high oil volume attachments such as shears and pulverizers. In the dedicated attachments, the number of components are reduced and the internal diameter of bores, hoses and pipes are enlarged.
  • Oil flow is optimized, backpressure is reduced to a minimum, excavator fuel consumption is reduced and heat build-up is minimized.
  • The lifespan of components is lengthened, resulting in fewer malfunctions and higher operational availability.
  • There is no need to change adapters between attachments on the job site, reducing exposure to the dangers a job site brings.

Rotar and Lehnhoff say their development means they have been shortlisted for the 2016 World Demolition Awards in the category Manufacturers’ Innovation Award: Tools & Attachments.

The World Demolition Awards are organized by Demolition & Recycling International magazine in co-operation with the National Demolition Association, Washington, and with the support of the European Demolition Association, Madrid, Spain. The winners will be announced at the 2016 World Demolition Summit in Miami during a ceremony Friday, Oct. 14.
