Himes to host free technician training class

Himes to host free technician training class

Himes Service Co. (HSC), a Waco, Texas-based provider of recycling equipment service, sales, repairs and relocations, will host its third free technician training class of 2016, providing Texas BBQ and snacks to attendees.

The topic of this training class is wire tier troubleshooting and maintenance.

Wire tie systems are essential to all recycling operations as profit is defined in terms of baled tonnage, the company says. This being the case, the additional downtime associated with learning to repair this equipment while on the job can be prohibitive and costly.

Accent Wire-Tie systems specialist Heath Johnston will teach the details of the company’s equipment to maintenance managers and field technicians Nov. 10 and 11 in Waco.

The goal of  this class is to prepare attendees to better identify part wear on the Accent wire tier ahead of an emergency and to be able to detect which part needs replacement based on the tie made by a equipment. This “knot knowledge” proved to be advantageous to everyone able to participate at the last class, HSC says. Participants are asked to bring a tie or three from their machines for analysis.

After the initial class room portion of the course, the group will head out to the HSC shop to work through an Accent wire tier break down.

Emphasis will be on systematically evaluating and comparing old and worn parts to new parts, which HSC says is a great trouble-shooting approach to identifying points of failure through groove wear. Attendees are encouraged to get involved in breaking down the equipment and reassembling it.
