Entropex to reopen under new name
<![CDATA[

Entropex, a Sarnia, Ontario, plastics recycling company that entered receivership last July, has been acquired by a partnership of two waste and recycling industry veterans: Tony Moucachen and Emmie Leung. The partnership was formed to acquire Entropex’s assets.

Along with acquiring Entropex, the partners renamed the new company ReVital Polymers Inc. The facility will focus on various grades of plastics packaging and will recover both post-consumer and post-industrial rigid plastics, converting them into various commodity resins.

Some of the grades that will be accepted by ReVital include pre-picked 1-7 mixed plastic bales, tubs and lid bales, post-consumer polyethylene bales, post-consumer polypropylene bales and post Industrial polyethylene and polypropylene.

The acquisition will include a 180,000-square-foot recycling facility located in Sarnia, Ontario. Leung and Moucachen said they will restart ReVital Polymers in a staged manner that will reflect a fresh vision and mission.

“Our process allows us to customize production to meet the specific needs of our customers, contributing to more sustainable products made from recycled content,” Moucachen says. He notes that ReVital recycles the entire spectrum of product package including paper and metal, integrating it into the reverse supply chain that feeds the development of new products and packaging.

“ReVital is offering programs and services that will improve recovery rates for producers and increase material value through better end-of-life management. Our high quality post-consumer recycled resins generate greater economic and environmental returns on the three levels of materials management – for consumers, the economy and the environment,” says Leung.

Moucachen is the founder and president of Merlin Plastics Group, Delta, British Columbia, which serves customers throughout Canada and the United States. The company processes both industrial and post-consumer rigid and flexible plastic packaging.

Leung is the founder and CEO of Emterra Group, headquartered in Burlington, Ontario. The company provides municipal and industrial, commercial and institutional customers a fully integrated approach to collecting, processing and marketing of more than 500,000 tons of recyclables per year. The company also operates more than a dozen MRFs, including five single-stream recycling facilities.

Merlin Plastics and Emterra are business partners in another venture that processes and markets recyclables collected in British Columbia’s Multi-Material British Columbia extended producer responsibility program for packaging and printed paper.
