EREF announces deadline for research grant pre-proposals

EREF announces deadline for research grant pre-proposals
<![CDATA[

The Environmental Research & Education Foundation (EREF), Raleigh, North Carolina, has announced pre-proposals for research grants may be submitted online now through June 1, 2017. Pre-proposals are required prior to submitting a full proposal and must be completed online. Mailed hard copies and email submissions will not be accepted, EREF says.

The foundation says the sustainability movement has reached the business models of nearly every industry in the U.S. and aggressive goals have been set regarding waste management. Projects funded by the Research Grants Program reflect EREF’s strategic goal to address all areas of solid waste management and support EREF’s mission to fund and direct scientific research and educational initiatives to benefit the waste industry and its participants.

Pre-proposal topics must relate to sustainable solid waste management practices and pertain to the following topic areas:

 • waste minimization;
 • recycling;
 • waste conversion to energy, biofuels, chemicals or other useful products;
 • strategies to promote diversion to higher and better uses (e.g., organics diversion, market analysis, optimized material management, logistics, etc.); and
 • landfilling.

Certain topics may require approval before a pre-proposal will be considered. A list of topics requiring approval can be found on the EREF website at www.erefdn.org. Investigators wishing to submit a pre-proposal relating to a topic listed should email a one-page or less request for a topic review to the email [email protected]

Pre-proposals will be accepted online now until 5 p.m. Eastern Standard Time on June 1.

EREF is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that funds and directs scientific research and educational initiatives for waste management practices to benefit industry participants and the communities they serve.
