CRA’s first Community Outreach Series event, the Plastic Bag and Film Recycling Forum, was held on Friday in Nags Head, NC. Around 40 attendees from various sectors including the recycling industry, officials & members of Eastern NC communities, and other stakeholders came to hear about and participate in the discussion. Forum topics included how to help reduce plastic bag and film waste, and how to ensure the materials are recycled properly at retail collection locations. Attendees heard from the plastics gurus at the WRAP Project, local government representatives, NC DEACS, and nearby MRF’s during the event. They had a chance to participate in a round-table discussion as well as a networking lunch following the forum. Several organizations signed up as area campaign stakeholders including the NC Coastal Federation, League of Women’s Voters, NC Aquarium at Roanoke Island and Hatteras Recycles.
