The Environmental Research and Education Foundation (EREF), Raleigh, North Carolina, one of the largest sources of solid waste research funding in the U.S., has announced the launch of its redesigned website at www.erefdn.org. The new site comes at a time of growth for the nonprofit, whose new and expanded strategic direction for the next five years includes substantially increasing the amount it gives in grants, scholarships and internships.

Designed to improve user experience, EREF says the website features easier navigation thanks to a more in-depth menu, including drop-down submenus and bolder colors, which highlight the organization’s four core programs: research grants and projects, continuing education, waste data and reports, and scholarship program.

EREF’s extensive collection of resources, such as Continuing Education courses and Internal Research Program, will be more easily accessible through the new website to provide users with one location to meet their needs. Once a user creates an account, they need only log in to download content and register for events.

Additionally, EREF says the website will introduce a waste industry blog, which will feature updates on EREF happenings and industry news. Users are encouraged to interact and offer feedback using the social media buttons, which now appear at both the top and bottom of each webpage.

“The goal of EREF is to perpetuate scientific research in the waste industry in order to better the environment and improve public awareness,” says Bryan Staley, EREF’s president and CEO. “Our hope is that this new website can become an easy and direct tool for researchers, industry members and the public to get the information they need.”

In February, EREF announced that scholarship applications for the 2016-2017 academic year are now available. The application deadline for the $1 million allocated annually for research grants and graduate level scholarships is May 4, 2016, at 5 p.m. EST.
