IT Asset Management Group (ITAMG), New Hyde Park, New York, has announced it has received Responsible Recycling (R2) Rev. 7/2013, OHSAS 18001:2007 and ISO 14001:2004 certifications for its electronics recycling, refurbishment and data destruction plant in Farmingdale, New York.

ITAMG provides IT asset disposition (ITAD), hard drive shredding and computer liquidation services to businesses that are replacing systems, relocating or otherwise have surplus equipment in need of secure and environmentally conscious disposal. The company says it provides data destruction, removal, recycling, asset liquidation and relocation services for organizations in every major industry.

Richard Sommers, president of ITAMG, says, “We have taken serious care to responsibly manage e-waste with certified, transparent and industry-leading partners since opening the firm in 1999.  Commitment to the R2 standards not only means making an environmentally sustainable impact but also helps us operate our business in an efficient and secure manner by reducing overheads and liabilities and increasing security, safety and controls.”

The Responsible Recycling Standard for Electronics Recyclers has been credited by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for improving the overall management of retired electronics from a recent analysis of the Implementation Study of the Electronics Recycling Standards: R2 and e-Stewards.

The latest R2 Rev. 7/2013 includes strict requirements for data destruction processes and verifications as well as OHSAS 18001:2007 certifications to ensure employee safety. The R2 Standard also includes a requirement for ISO 14001:2004 certification, which stresses documentation and implementation of processes, operational procedures and environmental management systems.

ITAMG says its goal is to provide the highest financial returns to its customers by refurbishing and selling all types of networking, storage, desktop and mobile devices. By subscribing to the R2 standards, the company says it makes a commitment to environmentally responsible waste management in the IT secondary market and liquidation space.
