An article on JOC.com reports that Maersk Line, Copenhagen, Denmark, the global container shipping arm of the Maersk Group, has signed a three-year transportation agreement with aluminum producer Rusal for an estimated 10,000 20-foot-equivalent units a year to markets in Europe, North America and Asia.

According to the contract, which was signed in St. Petersburg, three Maersk Group carriers will transport aluminum and alloys on behalf of Rusal during the three-year period, which may be extended.
“Our agreement with Rusal includes three of our brands, Seago Line, MCC and Maersk Line. It is therefore also a testimony of our global research as well as our regional expertise,” Maersk Line CEO Soren Skou told Joc.com.
Rusal CEO Vladislav Soloviev told Joc.com the manufacturer wanted to build a long-term strategic partnership with Maersk Line.
The report on JOB.com quotes him as saying, “The aim of the agreement is the joint search for the most optimal solutions aimed at optimizing costs for both parties.”
