Tom Steyer, the founder and president of political action group NextGen Climate, has been added as a keynote presenter at the California Resource Recycling Association (CRRA) 40th Annual Conference & Tradeshow. He will join Mark Murray, executive director of Californians Against Waste, at the keynote session on Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2016, at the Sacramento DoubleTree Hotel.

Steyer was a partner in a hedge fund before turning full time to philanthropy and political activism. In 2007, Steyer and his wife Kat Taylor founded Beneficial State Bank, an Oakland-based nonprofit bank set up to invest its profits back into local businesses and improvement efforts.

Steyer also serves as president of NextGen Climate, described on its website as “a San Francisco-based environmental advocacy organization” with a goal to “act politically to prevent climate disaster and promote prosperity for every American.”

The CRRA 2016 Conference is Aug. 7-10 and is billed by CRRA as “one of the most comprehensive and informative conferences dedicated to resource management issues in California and beyond.” Those wishing to register can do so here.
