Stainless steel is focus of May Tokyo event

The 21st Annual Conference of the Brussels-based International Stainless Steel Forum (ISSF) has been scheduled for 18 and 19 May 2017 at the Shangri-La Tokyo hotel in Japan.

 

According to ISSF Secretary-General John Rowe, the event’s Open Panel Session on Thursday 18 May will include presentations by several prominent stainless steel industry executives and analysts, including:

 

  • Yoshihisa Kitai, chief economist of Nippon Steel and the Sumikin Research Institute Corporation, who will present an outlook on the Asian economy;
  • Yasuo Ishikawa, the manager of the Nickel Sales and Raw Materials Department of Sumitomo Metal Mining, who will offer a presentation on the nickel market in Japan;
  • Jim Lennon, managing director of Red Door Research and a Senior Consultant for commodities at Macquarie Capital (Europe), who will present comments on “Nickel from a Global Perspective;” and
  • Atsushi Yamaguchi, CMA senior analyst of SMBC Nikko Securities, whose presentation will offer an outlook of the Asian stainless steel industry.

 

On Friday 19 May, optional tours are being made available to either the JFE Flat Rolled Stainless Steel Plant in Chiba, Japan, or the Daido Long Products Stainless Steel Plant in Chita, Japan
