Northeast Tennessee recycler to close operations

Tri City Waste Paper Co. Inc., Kingsport, Tennessee, plans to close operations on March 15, according to reports from the Bristol Herald Courier newspaper, Bristol, Virginia. The company announced that it will stop taking recyclable materials on Feb. 15. 

According to the Bristol Herald Courier, this announcement has forced the town of Abingdon, Virginia, to find a new place to send its recyclable material. 

Tri City Waste Paper Co. Inc. began operations in 1971 to serve customers in surrounding counties and states. The company accepted a number of recyclables, including corrugated cardboard, all types of paper, polyethylene terephthalate (PET), high-density polyethylene (HDPE), low-density polyethylene (LDPE) and aluminum cans. The company also offered flatbed service to pick up baled corrugated cardboard and plastic at many locations in the area, as well as secured destruction services.
