The European firm Back Market, which has a United States office in New York and bills itself as a marketplace dedicated to refurbished electronic products and appliances, has announced the launch of its “From Apple, with love” collection. The company says the product line will include iPhones that have been refurbished and certified by Apple at what Back Market calls “attractive price points.”

The iPhones offered will carry Apple’s warranties and protection plans and “are guaranteed to have the highest level of quality at the best price,” says the firm.

“We are always looking for ways to bring more value and choice to consumers when it comes to refurbished electronics,” says Thibaud Hug de Larauze, founder and CEO of Back Market. “With this new collection, customers get a like-new buying experience but at a fraction of the price and with no risk. The service level and certification process, as well as Apple’s official seal of approval, help eliminate skepticism about buying refurbished devices and provide the assurance needed to give it a try. This is an important step towards our goal of making buying refurbished products a mainstream shopping experience.”

The Washington-based Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries (ISRI) is among the recycling organizations that have taken an interest in expanding the repair sector, seeing it as a means of offering increased opportunities to its recycling company members.

Launched in 2014 by Hug de Larauze and his partners Quentin Le Brouster and Vianney Vaute, Back Market currently operates in five European countries (France, Germany, Italy, Spain and Belgium) and launched in the U.S. in early 2018. It employs about 100 people at its three offices in Paris and Bordeaux, France, and in New York.
