The Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries (ISRI), Washington, announced the winners of its seventh annual Vehicle Safety Awards at ISRI2019 in Los Angeles, California. The awards are presented to members that have demonstrated a strong commitment to the safety of employees and public through effective fleet safety programs, the association says.

“ISRI’s Vehicle Safety Awards recognize those member companies that standout when it comes to vehicle safety records,” says Commodor Hall, ISRI’s transportation safety director. “A safe transportation program is the result of a strong safety culture, proper vehicle maintenance program and open communication among drivers, vehicle maintenance staff and management. It takes a commitment by all to ensure that fleet and driver safety is paramount. ISRI congratulates those members who achieved strong vehicle safety records.”

The awards come in two categories: Best Fleet Award and Pacesetter Award. Based on class size, the Best Fleet Award is presented to the ISRI member with the lowest vehicle accident rate and the lowest DOT rate in 2018.
