Dąbrowa, Poland-based Bin-e, which makes what it calls an intelligent waste segregation bin, has announced it will introduce a contactless version of its product in June 2020.

“We focused on a very important feature—contactless use of the device,” states Wojtek Łyszczak, Bin-e’s international business developer. “The results of the constructors’ work are promising, and the new Bin-e may become a hit on global markets.”

In a 2017 presentation in Warsaw at the Paper & Plastics Recycling Conference Europe event, Bin-e’s Marcin Lotysz said the firm’s office or public space collection bin can distinguish between paper, plastic and metal items, allowing people to discard items quickly to be recycled. The device uses an internal camera and mechanically sliding parts to perform the sorting.

“The unusual conditions of the present times are causing an increase in demand for products that improve safety in public places,” says Łyszczak. “The criteria and priorities in the new post-COVID-19 reality are shifting. Intelligent, innovative technological solutions could be extremely helpful.”

Bin-e products are in use on three continents, “and our bins segregate waste with an accuracy of about 90 percent in such countries as the Netherlands, Sweden, Norway, France, Spain, Russia, China, the United Arab Emirates and Canada,” says Łyszczak.
