Effective July 21, Clay County, Florida, has suspended the collection of curbside recyclables. According to a news release from Clay County’s website, the temporary suspension is due to “staffing shortages caused by impacts from COVID-19 with Clay County’s contracted waste hauler Advanced Disposal.”

The county plans to keep the suspension in place through at least July 31. The county reports that it will reevaluate the suspension at the end of the month. At the end of the suspension, Advanced Disposal will resume the collection of curbside recyclables in the Florida county.

With the temporary suspension, the county is encouraging residents to save and store recyclable containers until curbside collection resumes or to bring recyclables to a recycling center in Green Cove Springs, Florida, or an environmental convenience center in the county. Residents unable to store or transport recyclables have been encouraged to place containerized recyclables curbside on their regular garbage collection day as a last resort.
