Alpla Group, a specialist for packaging solutions and recycling based in Hard, Austria, has announced plans to acquire an Amcor facility in western India that produces preforms for polyethylene terephthalate (PET) bottles.

According to a news release from Alpla Group, Alpla acquired the Amcor rigid plastics plant Sept. 28. The plant is in the Pune district of Alandi, Maharashtra, India, and it manufactures preforms for the production of PET bottles for the beverage industry. Alpla says customers include Coca-Cola and Amul, an Indian dairy company.

Alpla says the plant’s 50 employees are joining its company as a result of the acquisition.

“The newly acquired facility near Pune will primarily help us to better serve the market in the western region of India and further expand existing partnerships with customers such as Coca-Cola,” Vagish Dixit, managing director of Alpla India, says.
