SERI adds to R2 Technical Advisory Committee

SERI adds to R2 Technical Advisory Committee
<![CDATA[

The board of SERI (Sustainable Electronics Recycling International), headquartered in Washington, has appointed 14 new members to the R2 (Responsible Recycling) Technical Advisory Committee (TAC). The R2 TAC is the forum for continued development of the R2 Standard.

More than 100 applicants, consisting mostly of recyclers, auditors and consultants who are engaged in R2 certification, responded to the call for new TAC members. SERI says the TAC must maintain a balance of representation between the three stakeholder groups to avoid any dominance issues that would violate SERI’s ANSI Accreditation for standards development. The board also considered diversity within the stakeholder categories and broader representation from regions around the world where the R2 Standard is used. All candidates had valuable knowledge, experience and perspectives to contribute to the TAC, according to the organization.

As terms expire or members leave the TAC, the SERI board says it will add new members while balancing representation within and across the stakeholder groups. Those who have already applied will remain candidates for consideration in future TAC appointments.

The 14 people joining the TAC are:

Entities covered by the standard

 • Alvin Piadasa, TES-AMM Group, Sydney;
 • Amy Reiken, Belmont Trading Co., Buffalo Grove, Illinois;
 • Bob McCarthy, Adams Cable Equipment, Phoenix;
 • Malcolm Whitehouse, AST Recycling, Johannesburg, South Africa;
 • Mike Godfrey, Quantum Lifecycle Partners LP, Toronto;

Customers of entities covered by the standard

 • Carla Vasconi, Australia and New Zealand Recycling Platform, Melbourne, Australia;
 • Don Hennen, Reverse Logistics Group Americas Inc., San Jose, California;
 • Emily Spack, Information Technology Industry Council, Washington;
 • Kim Fox, Lenovo, Seattle;
 • Toby Harper-Merrett, Computers for Success Canada, Montreal

Regulatory/public interest/other stakeholders

 • Calvin Cheung, FormalWin Consultants Ltd., Kowloon, Hong Kong;
 • Marcy McGrath, State of Wisconsin – Department of Natural Resources, Green Bay;
 • Mike Easterbrook, GlenView Group Inc., Chino Hills, California; and
 • Stacey DeSantis, Perry Johnson Registrars, Troy, Michigan.

Stakeholders interested in being considered for future TAC positions can apply at any time to be added to the list of candidates. Further information on the R2 Consensus Body, TAC and the R2 standards Development process can be found at https://sustainableelectronics.org/r2/r2-standard-development.
